Bowling For Fun!

Bowling League begins on July 6th and will meet every Friday in July: July 6, 13, 20,
27. The league meets at Beach Bowl on Beach Blvd. In Jacksonville Beach. Times to
be announced.

Learning life skills at the bowling alley!

1. Enjoy Bowling – What a great recreational sport that can be enjoyed all throughout adulthood! The kids learn how to bowl in a place where employees know how to be patient and understanding with people who have special needs.

2. Turn Taking! Can be of the more difficult concepts for children with Autism to master, yet in bowling they get 10 frames of practice every game!

3. Conversation Skills Whether it’s greeting, goodbyes, or hanging out while waiting for the next turn, the children have plenty of conversation, facilitated or on their own. This is a great opportunity to form friendships too. J

What are the benefits for Parents?

4. Free Time! Bowling will take roughly an hour and ½ each session, which means you have free time!

5. Conversation Starters You have a topic of conversation (besides school) that is great for practicing the essential skills of socializing.

Saturday Bowling INCLUDES:

1. Minimum of one full game of bowling.

2. Rental Bowling Shoes

3. Popcorn

4. 2 Florida Certified Special Education Teachers

5. A FUN Awards Party that will consists of:
J Awards
J GF/CF Foods
J Beverages

To Ensure Fun For All

We just ask that all participants and parents keep the following in mind:

Snack and Snack Restrictions: Your child will have popcorn and water available each session. If you like, you may send your child with either money to purchase a snack at the bowling alley, or you can send them with a snack from home.

  • If your child has dietary restrictions, please make sure that the food and drinks are labeled with his/her name.
  • If you are sending money, please send no more than $3.00 for French fries, soda, or another snack item
  • We will take a short break after the 5th frame to get our snacks… please remind your bowler before the bowling starts.

Parent Participation: Parents are encouraged to participate when necessary however, we ask that you keep in mind that the main goal is socialization with peers and other adults.

Toys: We would like all toys to stay at home, but understand that sometimes they can help ease your child’s mind. Please only send one toy.

Assistants: If your child requires 1:1 assistance, please encourage your therapist to come and join us. ALL degrees of autism are welcome!
