| Raigan had regressed significantly in the later part of 2005 (Age 2): she would not respond to her name; she suffered from chronic allergy symptoms and constant ear infections even with ear tubes; her growth was stunted; she suffered from stomach bloating, gas, cramping and loose stools. We began a gluten free / casein free / soy free diet in February 2006 followed by our initial visit with a DAN! Doctor, Dr. Julie A. Buckley, in March 2006. Per test results, we eliminated many additional foods from her diet for which she was sensitive. We added vitamin and mineral supplements to offset what she was no longer receiving in her diet and added probiotics to offset damage done to her gut by the overuse of antibiotics. By April 2006, she was responding consistently to her name; her focus improved enormously; allergy symptoms were minimized; and from June to October 2006, she gained 6 pounds (she had not gained 1 pound in an entire year previously), plus 2 dress sizes and 1 shoe size. Her numerous ear infections have ceased. She is physically healthy and more alert, though still primarily non-verbal with some sensory processing issues (Age 3). |
